Wisdome-"Mystic Universe" Los Angeles

Wisdome-downtown Los Angeles "Mystic Universe" https://wisdome.la/ Wisdome, a unique attraction in downtown L.A., offers a spectacle of lights, sounds, and sensory overload on full spectrum 360 degree  dome shaped screens. This particular attraction, entitled "Mystic Universe," features an invitation into different realms of consciousness, different universes, heavens, nirvanas, other planets, galaxies, concepts of thought, history, various alien and galactic species, and so very much more! This was a surreal experience, and a unique attraction that is also very thought provoking. In addition, the various "dome" screens, offered meditations, galactic story telling, as well as various art installations portraying various portrayals of humanity, of matrixes, of the chains we hold on to or perceive, and freedom from them. Along with the brilliant art, the sounds, the colors and over all presentation, this spiritual take on the expansive and infinite universe was also quite awe inspiring!

MODERNISM WEEK PALM SPRINGS

Modernism featured home "Sunburst Palms:" A vibrant retreat!

As you enter the manicured entry way, you are greeted with a serene energy. A yellow trimmed glass entry door leads way to a mid-century modern home that takes you back in time...to an era of glamour, refined sophistication, Martini hour, and a celebration of life. There is something so nostalgic about the design and interiors of this home. Pops of colors in primary shades...bright yellows, royal blues, and red accents give the impression of an innocent, child like, yet sophisticated, glamorous getaway. This is a compact three-bedroom home with an interior that is very vibrant. What stands out in the interior is a bright yellow kitchen with yellow cabinets, counters tops and a 1950's themed style. This, along with a spaceship themed angular living room coffee table with a fire pit top gives the 1950s retro theme a modern day-space age twist.

The overall interior of the home tells a story....Of an innocent time when Hollywood was young, Palm Springs was a new getaway. There was no Vietnam war,  no 60's revolutions...the world was peaceful, and in fact, World War II was behind us. The interior of this home conveys innocence, play, and child-like wonder, and celebration of life and life's moments.  More of this story is told in the prominently displayed baby grand piano at the center of the home, in the touches of primary bold colors in the furnishings and entertainment centers. The al fresco outdoor dining table, elaborate pool and waterfall, uniquely textured lounge chairs and furniture, and in the ambiance of the home altogether.  Even small touches such as choice of coffee table books, the themes, and colors complimented the home's interior, as did the martini cart stand, the wall, and wallpaper choices. With these elaborate touches, the home's interior appeared mostly fun, but also functional, with fun being the bigger factor. With its waterfall draped sparkling swimming pool and subtle desert themed cactus landscaping, you were mostly reminded that you were indeed on a desert getaway,  in a home design catering to a celebration of life.

WestEdge design fair

WestEdge Design Fair review:

Barker Hangar, Santa Monica, CA.

An exciting and truly revolutionary home design event that allows you to re-imagine what you thought you knew about the limits and bounds of what can become when function and art merge. And, when substance and sustainability are equal goals. Throughout the fair, I noticed that what you see is not only what you get, but it can exceed your imagination and expectations.

Some words that come to mind when reviewing the WestEdge Design Fair: Authenticity, integrity, truth, sustainability, function, flair, and in many cases, unadulterated beauty, elegance and sophistication. From a huge polished spectacular rose quartz dining table and kitchen furniture, to large intoxicating lit up illuminating globes by a company established in 1909 called "Columbus."  What I saw was a feast for the senses. Visually stunning pieces, in addition to being functional, as well as inspirational.

Then, there were the clear quartz chandeliers, providing overhead lighting, as well as providing  the esoteric message of the clear quartz...a renowned healing stone containing the powers of clarity, purification and protection in one's home. In addition to these, there was the repurposed landfill plastic furniture line "Carbon Shack." Colorful and zany chairs that also benefit environmental clean-up efforts.

As I explored the fair, I was also intrigued by huge wall panels made up of various types of stone and marble, as well as softer and more artsy textures and styles displayed from various vendors. There were marble slabs appropriate for any room in the home, as well as glam and glittery wall panels with a disco ball night club feel. Again, function meets flair....

In addition to the refined elegance that the fair captured, there was also a childlike wonder that I encountered when coming across the "Dropi," line's swing like chairs. The "Dropi" brand swing style chair can embody playfulness, innocence, and freedom of expression in one's living (or office) space. They come in various options of bold primary colors such as bright yellow, red or blue, as well as in certain earth tones.  The "Dropi;" chairs consist of a heavy-duty canvas in which one can swing on, stretch on, and even invert! An adult playground of a chair is what the "Dropi" chair reminded me of.  With a durable material and weight capacity of over 1500, this piece of furniture reminded me of a swing chair meets  fun and playful gymnastics equipment. https://minarc.com/project/dropi/

All in all, this fair exceeded my expectations on many levels. It was innovative, featured revolutionary product and concepts. It offered a fresh approach to living, expanding imaginations. It even added the concept of health and healing to furniture functionality.

I thoroughly appreciated the substance and quality of craftsmanship, as well as dedicated artistry of the various pieces.

The material is versatile and aesthetically impressive! Visit them at https://elementsroom.com.
  • In addition, this year's fair featured a great deal on original fine art. Some of these included nostalgic art of the 1960s era in the form of iconic photographs taken by legendary photographer Lawrence Schiller. From images of a retro era Marilyn Monroe in "Somethings gotta give," to Clint Eastwood, Robert Redford, and Paul Newman. Then, there were underwater photographs by Mallory Morrison, whose photographs resembled paintings come to life. The images consisted of dancers underwater, embracing, or being repulsed by the sea coral that represented life, as one possible metaphor. Her photographs are extremely metaphoric, visually stunning, and so very original. Underwater photography at it's finest within the unique genre.
  •  All in all, the fair was another breath of fresh air, another captivating and memorable collection. Through various types of designs, I came across timeless concepts meeting modern sustenance and  relevance. Each vendor put so much effort and consideration into their work, with no detail  neglected. There was a mirage of perfection; in designs, materials, furniture, lighting, rugs and more. All being some of the best in the world.  Westedge '24, another amazing and extraordinary fair!
